After India’s loss to Sri Lanka on June 8 in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, former Pakistan wicketkeeper and captain Rashid Latif lashed out at former Indian opener Virender Sehwag and the Indian cricket team. In a video that has gone viral on Facebook, Latif can be seen making controversial statements against the former Indian opener. Responding to Sehwag’s comment before the India vs Pakistan game in which the Kings XI Punjab mentor had called Pakistan India’s son, Latif said if Sehwag can say anything, even we can. Latif added that Sehwag can go back to history and learn how his hometown Najafgarh is related to Pakistan. However, FinancialExpress.com cannot verify the authenticity of the video.
He said a lot of Indian cricketers like Ajay Jadeja, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan have a very good nature but Sehwag isn’t one of them. Adding that, now that India has lost it is the right time to answer, Latif said India are bleeding after the loss to Sri Lanka but they don’t really know where the wounds are.

Sehwag who is known for not holding himself back responded in a slightly calm manner this manner. The former Indian opener who is currently in England to cover the Champions Trophy took to Twitter to express himself on the matter. “A meaningful silence is always better than meaningless words,” he wrote on Friday.

After India had defeated Bangladesh in one of the warm-up matches, Sehwag had posted on Twitter, “Pote ke baad Bete. Koi baat nahi Beta, Well tried ! Congratulations Bharat !#BaapBaapHotaHai #INDvPAK.” Keeping Sehwag’s words, Virat Kohli’s team went on to defeat Pakistan by 124 runs and will now face South Africa in a do-or-die clash on Sunday.
