In yet another massive win for India in the Asian Champions Trophy, the Rupinder Pal Singh led team has roundly thrashed China 9-0 with Akashdeep, Affan and Jasjit slamming goals at will in the match that was held in Kuantan, Malaysia. This totally one-sided dominance by India needs to be put in perspective. It is not that China is new to hockey. They have been playing the game for years. As such, they are not minnows and India have really outplayed them in style. The superiority of the Indian game was amply evident as they went into half-time leading by 4-0!

However, India could not get the 10th goal which would have equalled the number they scored against Japan in an earlier match. India now have a total of 10 points in the table. India have won 3 and drawn one match.

The crucial India vs Malaysia match will happen tomorrow and whoever wins will take the top spot in the round-robin league. Malaysia have played 3 matches, all victories, and have accumulated 9 points.

India are now topping the table, but this may not last long as Malaysia still has a game to play and if they win, they will muscle India off the No. 1 spot. However, everything will be decided by the match between India and Malaysia that will be played tomorrow.

This win comes in the wake of India beating Pakistan 3-2 a couple of days ago to grab the top position in the championship.

In the other match that was held earlier, defending champions Pakistan to barely edge out a fighting Japan 4-3. While Japan played well, it is without a point from four outings in the round-robin league. Pakistan was lucky to win as Japan were dominating the game when it ended. Pakistan is on the verge of qualifying for the semi-final as they have six points from four games and just one game in hand against China.
