Remarks on BCCI president Anurag Thakur by Kapil Sibal, senior advocate and former Union minister, in the Supreme Court today triggered the funny bones of Twitterati. During the hearing of the Justice RM Lodha Committee’s recommendation to remove the entire top brass of Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), Sibal told the top court that Anurag Thakur is a cricketer. Sibal said this when the apex court had asked if BCCI bosses have any special skills.
The Chief Justice of India(CJI) TS Thakur, who was heading the newly constituted bench comprising of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud, also took a dig at Sibal saying, “We are all cricketers here, Mr Sibal. I was captain of SC judges team against the Bar,” thehindu.com reported. Anurag Thakur had played one Ranji cricket match and scored zero runs before becoming the BCCI chief.
As the news spread, Twitterati couldn’t stop making fun of Sibal.

The Supreme Court has reserved the order for tomorrow and asked BCCI to implement Lodha panel directions. However, BCCI refused to submit an undertaking to accept all directions of the Lodha committee. Reports said that the supreme court is “inclined” to sack the top brass of BCCI.
