Kolkata, May 20 UshaComm India, a leading provider of convergent billing and business supporting system (BSS) solutions for the telecom industry, has bagged a $2million contract from Nepal Telecom to provide customer care and billing solutions.
Nepal Telecom, also known Nepal Doorsanchar Co Ltd, is Nepal's largest telecommunication company serving more than 96% of Nepal's total telephone subscribers.
Nepal Telecom is currenty serving 47,0,212 public switched telephone network (PSTN) lines and more than a million GSM subscribers.
Sagauta Banerjee, executive director of UshaComm, said the company got the project against a stiff global competition.
UshaComm, he said, would provide end- to- end convergent solutions for prepaid and postpaid internet subscirbers, give software licenses as well as undertake all associated professional services including data migration and implementation. It would integrate multiple third party systems with the UshaComm solution suite.
Nepal Telecom, an erstwhile government-owned company, is aiming to raise teledensity to 26% by 2010 from 8% at present.
Banerjee said UshaComm is eying at the emerging markets for providing complete solution in telecommunication and wants to enhance its product portfolio in the BSS space.
The company is plannig overseas as well as domestic acquisition, ideally smaller than that of the $10 million UshaComm, but it wants at least 30% growth via the organic route, Banerjee said.
He said 90% of UshaComm's revenue has been foreign earning and it expects 15-20% of its turnover of $10 million in 2007-08 as profit after tax.
Ushacomm, having 45 customers across the globe, with MTNL, Dishnet Wireless and Aircel as its customers in India, is planning to enter into the business supporting system (BSS) for the power sector.
Banerjee said that the company is working with a partner in this segment, although he did not disclose the name of the partner.
