Force 2 box office collections: After Rocky Handsome's dismal performance at the box office, John Abraham was in need of a hit, but it looks like that won't be happening with his latest offering Force 2. Despite limited competition from Tum Bin and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, which gave Force 2 the opportunity to potentially earn big, the film managed to gross only Rs 21 crore in its opening weekend. Whether this is due to demonetization or a movie that isn't gripping enough is a point that is still being debated hotly, what is clear is that Force 2 isn't expected to fare too well in the weeks to come (Official teaser)

Force 2 box office collections: The occupancy rate of the film on Friday, which was only 15-20%, seemed to be an indicator of its poor performance. Still, its first day earnings went contrary to predictions of it falling victim to demonetization. Instead of the estimated Rs 5 crore, the action film, which sees Sonakshi Sinha playing the female lead, went on to earn Rs 6.5 crore. The surge was probably a result of audience buying tickets via digital modes of payment (Official teaser)

Force 2 box office collections: The film didn't fare much better on its second day either, despite the likelihood of greater footfall in theaters on a Saturday. Its box office collection rose only minimally from its first day with Rs 7.5 crore, indicative of the fact that John Abraham wasn't able to deliver the same adrenaline rush to fans that he did rather successfully in Dhishoom earlier this year (Official teaser)

Force 2 box office collections: The film has managed to surpass 2011's Force, however, which only grossed Rs 15 crore on its opening weekend. If Force 2's performance remains the same on weekdays, the film, which was made on a budge of Rs 45 crore, will break even in roughly a week. Such a performance may not be possible for Force 2, however, with Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt's Dear Zindagi being released this week. (Official teaser)

Force 2 box office collections: Demonetization has been credited to Force 2's less than stellar performance at the box office. Of the 1800 screens on which it is currently being played, the film is expected to earn the least in smaller centers that have been affected more severely by the cash crisis due to a fewer number of banks and ATMS in these Tier II and Tier III cities. The effect of demonetization on the film will be even more evident in rural areas. (Official teaser)

Force 2 box office collections: The film generally received positive reviews from audience, although both fans and critics alike have pointed out the missed opportunity in Sonakshi Sinha's character agent KK, who fails to give the film a strong female lead. While Tahir Bhasin's performance has earned rave reviews, the film isn't expected to benefit much by word of mouth and will probably struggle to even reach the Rs 50 crore mark. (Official trailer)
