    1. GST Bill: Senior Congress leader and ex FM P Chidambaram said the GST Bill is "flawed". "We support the GST, we are the original proponent of the GST idea. The bill is flawed and therefore we say the bill requires amendment. Opposing a bill which is badly drafted. I am not saying that a completely perfect bill is possible, is in fact supporting reform. Passing a flawed bill is anti reform," explained P Chidambaram. (AP)

    2. GST Bill: Industry chamber Ficci said, "From the consumer point of view, the biggest advantage would be in terms of a reduction in the overall tax burden on goods, which is currently estimated at 25 to 30 per cent. Introduction of GST would make Indian products competitive in the domestic and international markets. Studies show that this would instantly spur economic growth". (AP)

He saw the merit in them and said they would be taken on board (sic)". He also said, "Why are you (the Centre) not calling the meeting for building consensus (in GST's case)? Now this government seems to think that dealing with Congress is sufficient. But that I don't think is a correct method in our Parliamentary democracy." (AP)

  • 5. GST Bill: CII President Naushad Forbes said."Industry can now think of 'One India', which was truly pursued by all political parties in true letter and spirit, and hopefully the Bill will see the light of the day tomorrow .
