Sonia Gandhi takes dig at Narendra Modi, calls him 'Shahenshah': Sonia Gandhi hit back at the Narendra Modi government on the charges against her son-in-law Robert Vadra saying it's a part of a conspiracy of levelling false allegations in its bid for a "Congress-mukt" India. She dared the government to order an impartial probe if there is something in which she said the truth will come out. "This is a conspiracy for Congress-mukt country. What is the meaning of Congress-free India. Everyday they make new excuses. They level false charges. If there is something, then there should be an impartial probe. Everything will become clear," she said. Incomprehensible why some Ishrat files are missing: Chidambaram: Former Home minister P Chidambaram today said it was "incomprehensible" why certain files in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case were missing and asserted that there was nothing morally, politically or ethically wrong in the 'second' affidavit, which stated there was no conclusive evidence to prove that she was a terrorist. "It is simply incomprehensible why some papers in the files are missing. Which are the papers that are missing?," Chidambaram said. "Who gains by losing these papers? It is only those who make accusations gain. These papers will completely vindicate what I have been saying. Not afraid of Pakistan's nuclear threat, says Jitendra Singh: Union Minister Jitendra Singh said India is not afraid of any threat by Pakistan's nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan and that "we are prepared to tackle everything". He said, "We are not afraid of any such threat and we are prepared to tackle everything." Singh was reacting to Khan's remarks that Pakistan could target New Delhi anytime. He said that the central government has taken cognisance of the threat made by the Pakistan nuclear scientist. JD(U) questions BJP over nominating 'tainted' man for RS poll: The Bihar ruling JD(U) today questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for nominating "mining mafia" Gopal Narayan Singh as the party's candidate for Rajya Sabha polls from Bihar. Jat Mahasabha chief calls Haryana govt notice 'murder of democracy': All-India Adarsh Jat Mahasabha chief Pawanjeet Banwala today claimed the group has received a notice from government warning it against going forward with a fresh quota agitation. "We have a constitutional right to protest peacefully and no notice can snatch that right from us. The government notice is like the murder of democracy and the constitution," Banwala said. "The way the government has been warning us to stay away from protesting, it seems there is an Emergency-like situation," he said. He said there would be a meeting of office-bearers of the Mahasabha on here tomorrow, during which they would devise future strategy and discuss the notice. Delhi govt officials harassed after CBI raid, says Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged a group of state government officials were summoned by the CBI, whose officers hurled "choicest abuses" at them and threatened to "ruin" their career if they sided with him following last year's raid on his office. Kejriwal also accused the Narendra Modi government of using the CBI to "silence" those who raise their voice against it. "The raid took place on December 15, but what happened after that was more dangerous. From December 15 to mid-April, the CBI summoned around 150 officers without giving notice. They would only call and ask them to come to the CBI office. They would hurl choicest abuses at the officers and threatened to ruin their career. They would ask them who comes to meet the CM?     10. Swiss govt names Lalit Modi, wife among those facing tax probe: Switzerland today named Lalit Modi and his wife Minal among those about whom information and assistance have been sought from its tax department by the Indian authorities. In two separate gazette notifications issued today on 'assistance' matters, the Swiss Federal Tax Administration (FTA) also gave Modi and his wife 10 days for "exercise of the right to be heard". Without divulging further details, the FTA notifications here asked them to inform about a designate authorised person in Switzerland within 10 days to receive notifications. One notification has been issued for "Lalit Kumar Modi, Indian national", while the other one is for "Minal Modi alias Minalini Modi". (Express Photo)
