Facebook Messenger app grows to more than 800 mn users: Facebook announced on Thursday that the number of people using its Messenger application monthly has shot past 800 million, with more features on the way to win even more fans. "The Messenger team's mission is to make Messenger the best place to communicate with all the people and businesses in the world," Facebook head of messaging products Dave Marcus said in an online post.     2. Indian Railways offer 8000 SLRs on lease: The railways on Thursday offered 8000 SLR (seating cum luggage rake) coaches on lease for parcel purposes. Currently, there are 2000 SLR coaches which are leased out by railways but we are offering 8000 more on the lease, Railway Board Member (Traffic) Mohd Jamshed said here on Thursday. The rear coach of the train which is also used by the guard called SLR. One SLR can carry upto 4 tonne of parcel. Facing a slow growth in freight, railways is exploring various ways to perk up the loadings including seeking suggestions from stakeholders, offering certain schemes and running special parcel trains.     3. Maruti Swift Dzire AGS diesel automatic launched; priced at Rs 8.39 lakh: The much-awaited Maruti Swift Dzire diesel AMT aka Auto Gear Shift (AGS) was launched in India on Thursday. Available only on the top-end ZDi diesel variant of the Dzire, it is priced at Rs 8.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price the AGS-equipped version is about 50,000 pricier than the ZDi manual which comes at Rs 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

    4. Netflix launches service in India for Rs 500/month: Streaming pioneer Netflix has launched its service in India, allowing viewers to access unlimited content at prices starting Rs 500 a month. This is part of the company's global expansion to more than 130 new countries.     7. Ola Shuttle to now allows users to suggest routes: Taxi aggregator app Ola on Thursday launched a new 'Suggest a Route' feature on its app in Delhi-NCR for its Shuttle services. Using the feature, users will be able to suggest routes that they want Ola Shuttle to service within Delhi NCR, Ola said in a statement. These outsourced route suggestions will allow Ola to identify areas where there is a strong need for commute options for users and roll-out its Shuttle services accordingly, it said, adding Ola Shuttle service currently runs over 500 shuttles on 100 routes across Delhi-NCR, ferrying 10,000 consumers daily.     8. Quikr merges CommonFloor.com with real estate biz: Online classifieds player Quikr on Thursday announced the merger of CommonFloor.com with its real estate vertical QuikrHomes. Quikr will continue to operate both brands in the market. The merger, which is expected to be completed over the next two to three months, will give CommonFloor.com access to Quikr's 30 million consumers, Quikr said in a statement. QuikrHomes, on the other hand, will benefit from CommonFloor's structured data and domain expertise, it added.
