Pathankot attack: Manohar Parrikar admits to 'some gaps' Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar admitted to "some gaps" that led to the terror attack on the Air Force base here in which all the six infiltrators, who used some "Pakistan- made" equipment, have been killed. Addressing a news conference after a visit to the forward base, he said the terrorists were neutralised in an operation that lasted for more than 36 hours, but combing operations are still on. 2. Earthquake in Manipur: Massive rescue, relief ops mounted in quake-hit areas Massive relief and rescue operations have been launched in Manipur where a strong 6.8 magnitude earthquake yesterday claimed eight lives, shattered buildings and caused panic even as the National Crisis Management Committee met to review the situation. Teams of rescuers from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), rushed from Guwahati, were engaged in clearing the debris and looking for survivors trapped under heaps of rubble. NDRF teams have been deployed in the worst-hit Tamenglong district, epicentre of the quake, while another is on standby in Silchar in Assam. Most offices in state capital - private and government departments dealing with non-essential services - were closed besides educational institutions. Several buildings in Manipur secretariat and the landmark Ima market in Imphal had developed cracks, while some school structures collapsed. (Image Source: PTI)

    3. Corruption row: Arun Jaitley appears personally in court Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today told a Delhi court that he had not received any money from anybody during his tenure as DDCA President and charged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with deflecting attention from CBI probe "against a particular person" working with him. Jaitley alleged that Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders - Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai - had falsely stated that as the then DDCA President, he had siphoned off the money and was the beneficiary. He said that Kejriwal's statement that he had received money when the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium was constructed during his tenure as the DDCA Chief, was false, as the Board of Directors had constituted a committee to supervise the work and he was not a member of this supervisory committee. Pathankot attack: Time for Modi to focus on India, says Sena Lashing out at the Centre in the wake of the Pathankot terror strike, the Shiv Sena today said it had warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to trust Pakistan and that time has now come for him to focus on India rather than trying to unite the world. The attack has proven that our borders are not safe, India's internal security is in shambles and the only national work being done is giving condolences to the martyred on social networking sites, the Sena said in a hard-hitting editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana'. "Seven of our soldiers get martyred in return of a cup of tea with Nawaz Sharif...The incident has proven that our borders are not safe and our internal security is in shambles. With the lives of six terrorists, Pakistan has managed to finish India's self-respect," it said. (Image Source: PTI)

    6. Kirti Azad's suspension unfortunate, should be revoked: Shatrughan Sinha BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha today opposed his party's decision to suspend fellow parliamentarian Kirti Azad saying it was not giving a "good message" to people because the "perception" was that he was fighting against corruption and urged the party to revoke it. In an oblique message to the top party brass, Sinha, who has been critical of their decisions over a host of issues, said if they decided to punish him for mistakes he had not made, then it will remind him of a soothsayer's prediction that he would change his party once. "I hope, wish and pray it does not come true," he said with a laugh. He called Azad "a worthy son of a worthy father" and also supported the veterans, including L K Advani, who have questioned the leadership following the Bihar debacle. (Image Source: PTI)
