Dhanteras car sales soar on discounts: Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon prices slashed up to Rs 30,000, S-Cross at Rs 90,000 discount, more

  • The SC had on October 12 ordered that light duty vehicles would have to pay Rs 700 and three-axle vehicles Rs 1,300 to enter Delhi in addition to the toll tax from November 1 as ECC to check high pollution levels in the city.

  • The cars being sold at highest discounts include Fiat Linea, Hyundai Grand i10, Nissan Sunny, Honda Mobilio and Renault Duster among others. The discounts range between Rs 10,000 as loyalty bonus to free insurance cover to even cash discounts. For instance, Honda is offering a cash discount of Rs 1.5 lakh on its multi-utility vehicle Mobilio, while the Fiat Linea has a cash discount of Rs 75,000 along with other added benefits of over Rs 30,000.   • Other leading players are also giving discounts on entry level products, which comprise a major chunk of the domestic passenger car market. In the entry level segment, Maruti Alto, WagonR as well as Hyundai Eon are selling at distcounts in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 35,000. (In picture: Maruti Alto)

  • Market leader Maruti Suzuki has maintained its momentum from the Navratras to Diwali and is expecting deliveries of 15,000 units on Dhanteras compared to 11,500 units delivered last year - 21,000 bookings for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno alone have been logged. Maruti is also looking at a growth of 17%-20% in retail sales for the festive period. The entire portfolio of Maruti Suzuki has a discounted price for the festive season, except for the newly launched Baleno and hybrid variants of Ciaz and Ertiga. Even the crossover S-Cross is being sold for discounts ranging between Rs 40,000 and Rs 90,000.   • Hyundai has recorded 25% growth in deliveries made on the day of Dhanteras compared to the same day last year at 12,000 units and what is more, Hyundai expects the sales trend to continue till the year end.
