JNU students' union condemns RSS comments on varsity
The Students' Union of Jawaharlal Nehru University today termed as "regressive" the comments of RSS that the varsity was home to "a huge anti-national block which has the aim of disintegrating India. We condemn the highly regressive comments by RSS made against JNU students at a time when the students are at the forefront of a national movement against government's decision to scrap non-NET fellowships. "JNU's composition reflects the character of our society, as women and students from marginalised sections and backward districts are duly represented. This goes against the way RSS imagines Indian society, that is, as a 'Hindu Rashtra'," a statement issued by the JNUSU said. RSS mouthpiece "Panchjanya" has alleged that JNU is home to "a huge anti-national block which has the aim of disintegrating India." (Image Source: PTI)

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not remember for 14 months to visit Bihar, which gave him 31 out of 40 seats in Lok Sabha polls. I went to receive him at the airport in Patna as the PM was coming to participate in a government function (in July). But the Prime Minister, later, at Muzaffarpur questioned my DNA," Kumar told a public meeting in Hayaghat in Darbhanga district. "The Prime Minister said there is something wrong with my DNA. Does it behove the Prime Minister? Does it go with the dignity attached to the post? If my DNA is wrong, then why you (people) elected me the Chief Minister twice ?

    4. Indian Railways case of vanishing surplus: The "investible surplus" included the money allocated for capital expenditure. In essence, the CAG said that the exercise was more window-dressing than actual gain. The report concluded that the performance of the Indian Railways actually declined marginally during the last few years of Lalu Prasad's tenure. During his tenure as the railway minister, Lalu Prasad left passenger fares untouched. He banned plastic cups from being used to serve tea at railway stations and replaced those with kulhars (earthen cups), in order to generate more employment in rural areas. He later said he also had plans to introduce buttermilk and khadi in the railways. He also introduced cushion seats in all unreserved compartments. (PTI)

False accusations concocted against me: Robert Vadra
Robert Vadra today dismissed as "false accusations" reports related to an Enforcement Directorate raid against a Delhi-based company. "Here they go again ...Whenever they get insecure, they concoct some false accusations on me. The nation is not misguided by their tactics anymore," Vadra, who is son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, said on his Facebook page. ED's probe found that the firm was "involved" in purchasing land from companies, which had initially procured land from the border town of Rajasthan. (Image Source: PTI)
