Cuba "responded positively" to the candidature of Tharoor for the post of UN Secretary General, an External Affairs Ministry release said here today.

Cuba also reiterated its strong support for India's candidature for permanent membership of the UN Security Council, it said.

The two sides had extensive exchange of views on issues related to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) as part of the preparations for the 14th summit of the organisation which will take place in Havana in September.
