Top Drawer/Ashwini Kakkar

From the moment you step into the third floor of the Thomas Cook building on D N Road, you sense that Ashwini Kakkar's office will be something special. The walls of the corridor, leading to his work space, are covered with huge canvases, the most striking being a Manu Parikh piece. Ashwini (or Ash, as he prefers to be called), has been the CEO and managing director of Thomas Cook for two years and has transformed his office into his own personal den. "I spend more time here than I do in my own bedroom." And the first thing he did when he moved in was to put up a huge whiteboard on the left side of the room. "I need a large scratch pad for all sorts of things"

But the rest off his office looks like a mini-museum, as the other walls are covered with art -- of artists both known and unknown. Dominant among his collection are two Hema Joshi paintings -- one mountainscape and the other of lush, green forests.
