PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
JAMSHEDPUR, JUNE 20: Several Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) activists were injured when about 200 party workers clashed at the Circuit House here where the election for East Singhbhum district president was scheduled to be held today.

RJD spokesman Radhe Yadav told reporters that several party workers received minor injuries in the violence, following which the election was postponed. The violence began when RJD district leaders Onkarnath Jaiswal, Radhe Yadav and Ram Bhagawan Roy reached the Circuit House with their supporters in a bid to prove their supremacy.

Soon, there was an exchange of words followed by a free-for-all with partymen coming to blows, damaging furniture and other belongings of the Circuit House, Yadav said.

Party observer Vijay Kunwar, who was at the Curcuit House, postponed the election and said he would wait for a directive from party president Laloo Prasad Yadav.
