Political quake sends Sensex crashing
The political tremors rocked the stock markets across the country on Monday with share prices collapsing as the government rejected an ultimatum from AIADMK chief J Jayalalitha to sack the Defence Minister or lose its support.

Oil companies reject Sengupta report
With some minor differences in approach, the major oil companies in the country have rejected the proposals made by the Nitish Sengupta panel on restructuring of the oil sector in the post-decontrol era.

Govt to kickstart fiscal's first borrowing
The government will kickstart its market borrowing programme for the fiscal 1999-2000 with the auction of a 10-year paper to mop up Rs 3000 crore on April 7. The Reserve Bank of India announced the auction on Monday.
