SMC to hire consultancy companies
The Surat Municipal Corporation has decided to hire six leading consultancy companies to prepare feasibility report for all major capital works projects and will be paid two per cent of the total project cost, Standing Committee chairman Ajay Choksi said.

Visit cancelled
Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda canceled his visit to the city. He was to arrive here on Tuesday to attend the marriage of former MP Kanak Sinh Mangrola.

RJP hails Centre
The Gujarat Pradesh Rashtriya Janata Dal has hailed the Vajpayee Government's decision to revoke President's rule in Bihar. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, state RJD president Vishakha Kantawala said President's rule should not have been imposed in Bihar in the garb of ``deteriorating law and order situation and killing of Dalits''. Instead of criticising the Congress Party for not endorsing the President's rule in Bihar, Vishaka said the BJP and its allies should concentrate on core issues.

Seminar on milk
The Surat District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Limited is organising a seminar on `High Milk Productivity at Low Cost' on Wednesday. More than 400 delegates from Surat, Bharuch and Valsad district are expected to attend the seminar which is to be held at 9.30 at Khativadi Uttpan Bazaar Samiti's Sardar Markwr Auditorium, Dumbhal, Surat.

Interrogated
Vadodara: Six accused under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, for exhibiting a lion cub at a farmhouse here were interrogated on Tuesday by the Wildlife Wing officials of the Vadodara Circle of Social Forestry. Farmhouse owner Anupam Zaveri and his brother, Apollo circus owner Ranjan Babu, two of his staff and the transporter of the cub faced the query by the forest officials, official sources in the department said.
