Tamil Nadu, Delhi stake claims

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Chennai, March 7: A hat-trick by left-arm medium pacer D Devanand embellished Tamil Nadu's innings and 41-run victory over Orissa on the final day of the Group B Super League Ranji Trophy match at MA Chidambaram Stadium here today.

The hero of the day, Devanand, began his act by dismissing dangerman Goutam Gopal in his sixth over. Victim No 2 was Sanjay Kumar Satpaty, who played a half-hearted stroke and Hemang dived in front to complete his second successive catch. Devanand pitched up on the off stump and Shaheed Khan obliged with a push. An alert Vasu at fourth slip moved to his left to take a brilliant one-handed catch and Devanand completed the first hat-trick of his career. ``I am really thrilled that I got it this time as I missed it twice against Railways,'' said an elated Devanand after the match.Orissa (1st innings): 194
