For a good crop
The focus on agriculture and rural development in the new Budget may be part politics, but it is both good politics and good economics.

Yashwant Sinha's budget for the last year of the century sounds like the temporary return of sobriety after a long spending and borrowing binge. It has the marks of the morning-after.

The Hindu is hurt
This is an old debate. In my own case, it goes back at least 15 years. In an article in this newspaper on May 11, 1984, I wrote: "....But the Hindu wonders what more he should do to remain together with the others."
