Seven students suspended
Seven students of Central Polytechnic, Chandigarh were suspended today on account of creating indiscipline in the hostel. While two of the students belong to civil engineering, the remaining five are from mechanical engineering branch. Meanwhile, Rahul Deswal, president of Central Polytechnic Student Union (CPSU) has, in a statement, asked the college authorities to reinstate the students.

Vohra is prosthetic consultant to AdmnV.J.S. Vohra, prosthetic consultant, Navedac Prosthetic Centre, Daulat Singhwala, has been appointed as Prosthetic Advisor to the Chandigarh Administration on matters concerning supply and fitting of prosthetic aids and rehabilitation of the physically handicapped.

FCI holds competition
"Women feed the world" was the theme of an on the spot painting and essay writing competition that was organised by the regional office of Food Corporation of India on the eve of World Food Day here today. According to a statement, the competitions were organised for the wards of FCI personnel and the first three winners would be given cash prizes.

National Savings conducts camp
A one day training camp for agents was conducted by the Regional Director, National Savings here today. According to a statement, agents based at Chandigarh and Ropar district attended the camp. The camp was inaugurated by Joint Secretary Finance-cum-Director, Small Savings, Chandigarh, Prithi Chand. Sales promotion, motivation, salesmanship and other field techniques were discussed.

AMU alumini to hold charity show
A charity show of "Bade Miyan, Chote Miyan" is being organised by Aligarh Muslim University Old Boy's Association on Sunday, October 18 at Jagat Theatre to commemorate Sir Syed Day. Venod Sharma, president, Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee will be the chief guest.

Press operator's arm crushed
Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Colony number 4, was seriously injured after his arm got crushed in a printing press, where he is currently employed. He was rushed to the PGI, police sources said.

Man sustains burn injuries
Shiv Rattan (45), a rickshaw puller and resident of the Dadu Majra Colony, received 45 per cent burns after his clothes caught fire in Sector 38. Police sources said that the exact cause of fire is not known but he has been admitted to the PGI where his condition is stated to be serious.

World Food Day
The Regional Save Grain Campaign office has started a 10-day training programme for rural women to mark the World Food Day. A statement issued here said that metal storage bins and cash assistance of Rs 350 were given to Himachali tribal women. Practical knowledge on modern storage methods is also being imparted to them.
