Two Dal MLAs join RJD
The ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar yesterday got a shot in the arm with two more Janata Dal MLAs joining the RJD at the residence of Chief Minister Rabri Devi. The two MLAs who switched over to the RJD were Ashok Singh and Parmeshwari Prasad Nirala hailing from North Bihar.

Patch-up bid on in BJD; rebels adopt wait & watch policy
The crisis in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), sparked off by the suspension of five prominent MLAs on the charge of anti-party activities, continued for the second day yesterday as the dissidents adopted a "wait and watch policy. The five MLAs, known to be close to BJD Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC) chairman Bijoy Mohapatra, strongly objected to their suspension but resolved to fight their cases within the party.

West Bengal won't succumb to Central threat, says Basu
West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu yesterday charged Union home minister L K Advani with failing to combat terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and holding out threats to his Government. Lambasting Advani, Basu said, "He never obeyed the Constitution and is an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case. It is the country's misfortune that such a person has become India's home minister in the 50th year of independence."
