MOSCOW, June 21: Russian Communist Party has formally declared its resolve to oust beleaguered president Boris Yeltsin and his administration even as prime minister Sergei Kiriyenko prepares to unveil on Tuesday, his plan to counter the country's worst ever economic crisis. The emergency plenum of the Russian Communist Party central committee voted yesterday to launch a nation-wide stir against Yeltsin, who faces an impeachment move in the 500-strong lower house -- Duma -- where communists have a majority.
The move comes within 24 hours of Duma's decision to create a 15-member special commission for investigating Yeltsin's alleged ``crimes'' as part of the deputies' efforts to impeach the president.
Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov, who advocates adopting constitutional and peaceful means and is leading the impeachment move, said Yeltsin's regime would be thrown out under the pressure of mass protest actions.
Zyuganov, who lost to Yeltsin in the 1996 presidential election, asked his comrades to beready to lead the nation-wide stir against the regime. He expressed confidence that the country's ``agony'' would not last long and Yeltsin's fall was imminent.
