ZURICH, May 25: South African President Nelson Mandela is among those due to be awarded the Fifa Order of Merit, world soccer's governing body announced today.The Awards will be presented at the opening ceremony of Fifa's 51st Ordinary Congress in Paris on June 7. The recipients are: President Mandela, for re-integrating football into post-apartheid South Africa. Michelle Akers (USA), 1996 Olympic champ & gold medalist in 1991 women's World Cup. Gerd Mueller (Germany), gold medalist 1974 World Cup and leading goal-scorer in '70 World Cup. Sir Bert Millichip (England), ex-chairman of English FA. Larbi ben Barek (Morocco/France), star striker in the 1930's, 40's & 50's. Late Guillermo Canedo (Mexico), former Fifa senior vice-president Henry Fok (Hong Kong), patron of football in Hong Kong & China. Gilmar (Brazil), goalkeeper in the 1958, 1962 & 1966 World Cups. Fernand Sastre (France), co-president of the World Cup organising committee France '98. Karl-Heinz Weigang (Germany), a pioneer coach of the FifaInternational Development Program in the 1970's.
