Sonia should come clean on Bofors, says VP

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, February 15: Former prime minister V P Singh today said that Sonia Gandhi should answer all questions including those on Bofors, just like any other leader in public life.

Speaking to mediapersons hours before the country goes to the polls tomorrow, Singh refused to talk about the possibility of post-electoral alliances between the United Front (UF) and the Congress, even though he obliquely suggested that as a secular party, Congress would not be an anathema.

"I believe in the UF agenda and appeal to all voters to support the UF and its constituents. But in regions where UF candidates are not in a winning position, I would say that all secular-minded people should unite behind secular parties, " Singh remarked.

The UF leader would not answer any questions regarding Sonia Gandhi's remarks about the Gandhi family being completely clean on the Bofors issue and denied that he was soft-pedalling on issues like corruption. "Sonia Gandhi should answer questions on Bofors and other matters nowthat she is in public life," he said.
