MUMBAI, February 14: Paras Mhambrey is riding on a wave of success this season. The 25-year-old Mumbai swing bowler sustained his impressive displays by claiming six wickets for 45 runs at the Wankhede Stadium today.His effort enabled Mumbai bundle out Orissa for a paltry 150 in their second Group A Ranji Trophy Super League cricket match. And when stumps were drawn almost an hour behind schedule, Mumbai were two short of overhauling the Orissa total with eight wickets intact.
Mumbai's seasoned campaigners Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar were in charge at close, batting on 68 (94b, 123m, 11x4) and 57 (107b, 160m, 7x4) respectively.
The surrender of the Orissa batsmen -- barring vice-captain Rashmi Ranjan Parida (54: 97b, 143m, 7x4) -- went along expected lines as Mhambrey struck repeatedly. He played havoc in two spells: 7-0-23-3 and 9-3-22-3 which also boosted his season's tally to 34 from six matches.
Four wickets by left-arm spinner Nilesh Kulkarni and four slip catches by Manjrekar abettedthe Mumbai cause in terminating the Orissa first innings 72 minutes into the second second session.
Orissa struck back in fine fashion when they claimed opener Sulakshan Kulkarni (10) and Amol Muzumdar (2) with just 28 runs on the board. However, Manjrekar, who replaced Pagnis -- injured while fielding at short-leg -- as opener and Tendulkar dug in to offset the two early setbacks.
