Azharuddin apologises

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA  
MUMBAI, Feb 14: Indian cricket captain, Mohammed Azharuddin, today apologised to the people of Bihar for allegedly using derogatory language against them after a young fan stole his cap during the Hyderabad-Bihar Ranji trophy super league cricket match at Jamshedpur last week.``I wish to categorically state that I hold the people of Bihar in high esteem and I am also ever so greatful for all the support I continue to receive from them,'' he said in a statement here.``I express my deepest apology if the sentiments and emotions of the people of Bihar have been hurt,'' the wristy stroke-maker said.

The incident took place at the Keenan stadium on February 6 following which a case was filed by an advocate, S K Sinha, in the district court.The first class judicial magistrate, Lalit Prakash Choubey, had issued the summons through the BCCI for , Azharuddin, to appear in the court on February 12.
