BJP lodges complaint against Kamat

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, February 14: The Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance today lodged a complaint against Congress (I) candidate from Mumbai north-east constituency, Gurudas Kamat, for allegedly violating the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951.

Pratap Ashar, election agent of Pramod Mahajan, the Sena-BJP candidate who is fighting against Kamat in this constituency, complained to the returning officer S S Sandhu that his rival violated Section 127 (A) of the Act.

Ashar alleged that Kamat published a pamphlet without mentioning the name and address of the publisher and printer on it. If proved guilty, Kamat could face six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000. The BJP has requested Sandhu to lodge a police complaint against Kamat and have him arrested.
