Akram may be cleared of betting charges
Ata-ur-Rehman, a former paceman, who played 14 Tests and 35 one-dayers for Pakistan, has denied having submitted an affidavit implicating his former captain Wasim Akram in a match-fixing scandal. This could well mean that Akram will be cleared of all charges. The Pakistani media also indicated that Akram could be cleared of betting, bribery and match-fixing charges.

India A will have to survive a test by fire when they take on a formidable Pakistan A side in their first four-day "Test" which begins in Rawalpindi today.
