BJP does a tight ropewalking for a catchy agenda

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, January 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party's election manifesto committee is trying to strike a balance between populism and pragmatism. While keen to come out with a ``catchy'' manifesto that would appeal to the people, care is also being taken not to promise too much keeping in mind that the party could come to power.

After the first meeting of the committee today, sources said that the party would come out with a number of concrete pro-development programmes and policies, particularly on health, education, women and agriculture. Economic issues, too, would be highlighted.
