Quicktakes -- Rupee hits 21-month low
MUMBAI: The rupee slipped to a new 21-month low of Rs 36.89 against the dollar despite the RBI's intervention in the inter-bank foreign exchange market here on Monday. Opening at the Rs 36.75/77 level, the rupee started weakening in the early hours of trading to cross the Rs 36.80 level. At this level, the RBI intervened and sold dollars but the rupee continued to slide and touched Rs 36.87/89. Naxal attack HYDERABAD: Six policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police and a civilian were killed on the spot and six other constables seriously injured in a landmine blast set off by extremists of the outlawed Peoples' War Group in Andhra Pradesh today.
