Centre not to impose 5% cut in plan assistance to states

[Details] To avoid the opposition from states, the central government has decided not to impose 5% cut in the plan assistance to the states and union territories and to go ahead with the amendments to give effect to the recommendations of the Tenth Finance Commission which will cost the centre Rs 5,000 crore during the current financial year. The proposed 5% cut in plan and non-plan expenditure would be restricted to the centre only.

RBI to tone up SSI financing

[Details] With a view to providing focused attention and increased flow of credit to the SSI sector, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked banks to adhere to the prescribed time schedule for the disposal of loan applications. In a letter from RBI to the National Confederation of Small Industry (Nacosi), RM Joshi General Manager RBI, briefed on the measures that RBI was planning, to tone up bank financing of SSIs.
