HR college lead

MUMBAI, AUG 20: HR Commerce from group `A' jumped into the overall leading position in the fourth round of the Inter-collegiate Chess Tournament being played at the University Stadium here today. They have a tally of 13.5 points out of a possible 16.

A total of 89 teams are participating in the tournament. They are divided into two groups -- Group A consisting of 44 teams and Group B of 45. The first phase of the tournament is played over seven rounds of Swiss League. The top four from each group qualify to play a four-round Swiss League which will decide the winner.

Vartak and MMK from group `B' are in the joint second position, trailing half a point behind HR with 12.5 points. Chetana, also from group `B', are third with 12.5 points while Podar and Sydenham, of group `A', were fourth with 11.5 points each.
