Luxury bus passenger robbed en route NAGPUR: A Passenger of a private luxury bus was relieved of his luggage containing ornaments and expensive clothing worth Rs 1.91 lakh, while on a journey to Aurangabad from Nagpur. Although the theft occurred nearly a fortnight ago, the police here could launch a probe only on Tuesday after receiving the relevant case documents from their counterparts at Aurangabad where an initial report was filed by the victim, Vinay Mahesh Dulo. Twenty six-year-old Vinay, who hails from Pune, had been to the city early this month to make some purchases for a marriage ceremony. Tigress killed in fight with tiger PUNE: In probably the first instance of its kind, Ganga, one of the tigresses at Peshwe Park, succumbed following a fight with one of the tigers on Monday morning. PMC Garden superintendent Yashwant Khaire said that while fights among the wild animals at Peshwe Park were not unusual, this was the first time that a death had occurred in a struggle. Both the animals, housed in a display cage for the past five days, suddenly got into a fight, which lasted for about 20 seconds. Before the park authorities could get wind of the situation and separate the two, it was all over as the 16-year-old tigress succumbed after having been knocked down by four-year-old Sunny's paws who also pierced her in the neck. 78 ZP employees fired for fraud KOLHAPUR: SEVENTY EIGHT employees of Kolhapur Zilla Parishad (ZP) have been terminated from service for producing bogus certificates to claim concessions given to the relatives of freedom fighters for getting jobs, chief executive officer of the ZP, Shridhar Palsule said. However, seven of them had obtained a stay on the termination order from the court, Palsule told a press conference here on Tuesday. Charas worth Rs one lakh seized RAJKOT: THE city police arrested two persons and seized five kg of charas valued at about Rs one lakh from them near Shekpir village in the border district of kutch on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off, police intercepted two persons riding on a scooter and a search yielded the contraband, police sources said. One of the accused, Rameshwarsinh, hailed from Bihar, while the other, Lakman Ramchandi was a local, the sources said.
