Kamat is MPCC vice president

MUMBAI, June 11: The elections to the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) were completed today by filling up the remaining posts after Ranjit Deshmukh's election yesterday, as per the agreement between Sharad Pawar and Chavan-Naik groups.

Accordingly, Gurudas Kamat, Suryakanta Patil (both belonging to Pawar camp) and Ulhas Pawar of the Sudhakarrao Naik camp were elected unopposed as Vice-Presidents, while Ishwarlal Jain, another Pawar acolyte, was elected Treasurer, also unopposed.

Prominent among the AICC members are Sharad Pawar, S B Chavan, A R Antulay, V N Gadgil, Shivraj Patil, Shrikant Jichkar, Suresh Kalmadi, Sushilkumar Shinde, Chhagan Bhujbal and Vilasrao Deshmukh. Those who made it to the executive committee include Manikrao Thakre, Mushtaq Antulay, Digvijay Khanvilkar, Ashok Dhawad and Kripashankar Singh, who will also be the General Secretary of the MPCC.
