Thangkhiew dazzles

CHENNAI, June 2: Gillford Thangkhiew, who hails from the hill resort of Shillong upset the calculations of seeded players. He came up with a stunning show to bring the world u-10 champion P. Harikrishna.

He also overcame fourth seed Saptarishi Roy Chowdhury. However, he still maintained a slender half point lead at the end of the sixth round in the IOC National Rapid u-12 and u-14 chess championship for boys and girls at A. M. Jain College on Monday.
