Crimewatch -- Guard beaten to death


* Two security guards at Kharghar on Wednesday killed a security guard employed at a nearby construction site, due to mistaken identity. The police said 30-year-old Manoj Bahaddur was beaten by Ram Avtar and Kalu at the construction site of Chaitanya housing society, plot 66, sector 12, Kharghar. The deceased, who was employed as a security guard at a construction site nearby, was walking through the Chaitanya society site. The accused, thinking Bahaddur was a thief, beat him with iron rods, killing him on the spot. Kalamboli police are investigating.

Woman molested

* A midele-aged man was arrested for molesting a 24-year-old woman in front of her husband on Friday at Kapurbawdi, Thane. The police said 38-year-old Jaisingh Thakur entered his neighbour's house early on Friday morning, while the couple was asleep and attempted to molest the woman. The victim's screams alerted the neighbours who nabbed Thakur and handed him over to the police. The Kapurbawdi police are investigating.

Man stabbed

* Following his sister's order, a youth with his two aides, stabbed a person on Thursday night at Andheri (West). The police said Vinod and his two friends stabbed 27-year-old Raju Gangurde near Cooper hospital, Andheri (West) at around 11 p.m. Gangurde got married to Vinod's sister Nanda Palve, a 24-year-old widow, in December 1990. Gangurde's parents were not pleased with his marriage with Palve and forced him to get married to another girl. The second marriage took place without the knowledge of Palve.

When she came to know about it, she allegedly ordered her brother, Vinod, to kill Gangurde. Last night, Vinod and his two friends attacked Gangurde near Cooper hospital and stabbed him. A seriously injured Gangurde was rushed to Cooper hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The Juhu police are investigating.

Cash looted

* Three men looted Rs 1.5 lakh from a man on Thursday morning at Ghatkopar. The police said Vijay Mehta, a cashier employed with Shanti oil stores, Gamdevi road, opposite Shreyas Garden, Ghatkopar, was robbed while he was taking the cash to bank. At around 9.30 am, the trio attacked him, threatened him with the knives, snatched the bag containing the cash and fled in an autorickshaw (MH 03 2903). The police are investigating the case.
