AirTel, Escotel in live-in arrangement

Our eFE Bureau in New Delhi

Airtel and Escotel today announced a strategic tie-up to share cellular infrastructure in their common circles. While infrastructure sharing is becoming quite prevalent in Europe, this is the first time in the country that two cellular operators, which will be competing in the same market, have entered a formal agreement to co-operate by sharing their infrastructure.

The strategic tie-up will result in saving in capital and operational expenses and time to launch for both the operators in their common circles.

According to Escotel executive director and CEO Manoj Kohli, “This tie-up will not only result in savings for the operators but eventually the lower costs will mean lower costs for customers and roll out of our services to many more areas viably.”
