signs $30 m deal with UK co

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has signed
a 3 year agreement worth about 30 million pounds, with the
UK-based United Utilities (UU) Plc, a multi-utility group.
This assignment will be executed from TCS’ offshore delivery
center in Kolkata. A significant amount of work would also
be executed from TCS’ onsite centers in the UK. TCS has set
up a facility in Manchester dedicated to the United Utilities
engagement.
The agreement, which was signed in Mumbai
between TCS CEO S Ramadorai and United Utilities Service Delivery
managing director Les Dawson, will run through till March
31, 2005, with an option for a further 5-year extension till
2010.

A S Lakshminarayanan explained that the objective of the agreement
was to enhance efficiencies across UU’s IT requirements, leverage
TCS’ expertise in outsourcing, processes and infrastructure
and utilise TCS’ multi-platform and project management capabilities.
The engagement is expected to include areas
of enterprise application integration (EAI), management Information
systems (MIS), data warehousing (DW) and development as well
as support & maintenance of various applications.
