The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), a non-profit
organisation floated by Indian IT entrepreneurs in silicon
valley, has decided to extend its scope of operations to the
entertainment and bio-technology sectors.
The annual conference of the association,
Tiecon 2002, which will be held in New Delhi on January 12
and 13 will also focus on entrepreneurship in entertainment
and bio-technology.
“TiE might have been promoted by people
involved in IT, but it has members from other sectors as well.
TiE is about entrepreneurs and should not be confined to one
sector. Moreover, there are numerous new areas in which enterprise
can be promoted,” said TiE’s Delhi chapter president, Mr Saurabh
Srivastava.
The theme of the forthcoming conference
“Upside in the Downturn” would focus on both existing as well
as newly emerging areas of opportunities, such as IT, IT enabled
services, biotechology, media and entertainment, he said.
“With the economic downturn, there has
been considerable gloom among business leaders and entrepreneurs
regarding the future of enterprise and value creation. This
conference will touch on creating and sustaining businesses
in the slowdown, some lessons learnt and imperatives that
will play a role in creating value in today’s environment,”
he added.
In order to help entrepreneurs get strong
“hands-on” advice, the conference will also run clinics for
venture capital and IT-enabled services. The conference will
be addressed by well known global and Indian personalities
such as CK Prahalad, Kanwal Rekhi, Satish Kaura, Naina Lal
Kidwai, Patrick Sutch and Arjun Malhotra.
