Innovision Tech lets go of staff from eTech team

BPL Innovision Technologies with a view to aligning its divisions
in line with market conditions has re-deployed and laid-off
employees from its eTech division. This division which was formed
after the company closed down its online initiative —- Oyeindia.com
—- by integrating the latters technical team with Innovision
Technologies.
Now following the re-alignmnt of the team close to 18 people
have been asked to leave. The eTech team was primarily focused
on the Web-technology/solutions segment.
‘‘The Web technologies team from Oyeindia Internetworks Pvt
Ltd was moved into BPL Innovision Technologies to form the eTech
division. This was a 30-member team of which 18 have been laid
off. The others are currently working on some ongoing projects,’’
sources said.
The employees who were asked to leave were offered a month’s
pay as the severance package.
When contacted, the company spokesperson said every company
was at this point aligning itself to the market conditions and
while many of the employees had been re-deployed based on their
skill sets and projects on hand, exit of some employees had
also happened.
Going forward, BPL Innovision Technologies (which is also the
arm of the group which had set up offshore development centers
for Nortel and Motorola) is aiming at focusing on building next
generation products and applications mainly for the wireless
and communication sectors. The company is keen to focus on its
core strengths and also leverage the domain expertise BPL has
gained in the mobile telephony sector. BPL Innoivision Technologies,
as reported earlier in The Financial Express is also scouting
for strategic merger options. |
