Adaptec Inc, a Milpitas-based high-speed storage networking solutions provider, proposes to intensify its marketing thrust on iSCSI (internet small computer system interface) product market, which is estimated to be $150 million in the current year.

“Though the market size appear to be small today, the iSCSI Technology enables new levels of information protection to customers who could not afford similar solutions earlier,” Mr Ram Jayam vice-president of the company told newsmen here on Monday.

The company is engaged in the storage networking products space including SCSI (small computer system interface) adapter cards and controller chips for high-speed data access in workstations and servers. It has led the market in providing iSCSI host bus adopters and ASICs scalable to 10 Gbit. Adaptec recently took over Platys Communications and is in the process of setting up of the Compatibility Labs and high-end ASCIC design facilities at Hyderabad. “The company proposes to invest close to $10 million for the purpose,” Mr Ram Jayam said.

Further the company aggressively pursues the development of next generation iSCSI technology based solutions and compatibility lab across OEM platform and operating systems. “Adaptec India center is the hub for addressing Asia-Pacific and Japan markets,” he added.
