NIIT in training deals with Oracle, IBM India

R Ravichandran in Hyderabad

In a strategic move, software and education major NIIT Limited has tied up with Oracle India and IBM India to become an exclusive official trainer of both the MNCs’ higher-end Web-based application server products-Oracle 9i and IBM’s WebSphere and DB2.

With the IT education sector under severe pressure and the nature of the market changing owing to the slowdown and the September 11 attack, the move gives NIIT a lead over others to gear up for the future, Anuj Rahul Joshi, regional head, NIIT Ltd, told The Financial Express.

The courses are to be launched first in the southern cities of Hyderabad Chennai and Bangalore, during mid-January, 2002, Mr Joshi said.

NIIT will also assist the selected candidates by interviewing them and helping them find jobs through its placement cells, he said.

“The skilled manpower at NIIT has come in handy for getting into higher-end courses and getting a foothold in the booming corporate training market over the years,” Mr Joshi said.

“Though basic education remains our mainstay, it was high-time that we got into higher-end products training thus fulfilling specific kinds of needs,” Mr Joshi said.
