Our Banking Bureau

Mumbai, Dec 3: ICICI Bank has joined the MasterCard ATM network. The bank’s participation brings an additional 633 ATMs in over 61 cities in India into the MasterCard ATM network, taking the number to more than 1,803 ATMs across the country. Thus, MasterCard cardholders will be able to use their cards at any of ICICI Bank ATMs.

Commenting on the tie-up, ICICI Bank executive director Chanda Kochhar said: “ICICI Bank has been constantly evolving to meet the changing consumer needs and our participation in the Mastercard ATM netowrk will further increase the ease with which customers can withdraw cash anytime, anywhere.”

Said MasterCard International’s vice-president and country manager,
south-Asia, Sameer Vakil: “We are pleased to have ICICI Bank join the MasterCard ATM netowrk, which has emerged as the largest ATM network in the country.

The popularity of the MasterCard ATM network further reinforces MasterCard’s brand leadership in the country.” ICICI Bank ATM network has been connected with the MasterCard Debit switch, which controls the MasterCard ATM network. When a MasterCard cardholder uses the ICICI Bank’s ATM, the transaction is routed to the MasterCard network.

The MasterCard switch then identifies the card and sends it to the concerned bank, which then authorises the transaction sending a response to the ATM through the MasterCard switch.
