Embroidered
garments also to get drawback at all-industry rates
Our Economic Bureau
New Delhi, Dec 3: The revenue department has clarified
that the all-industry rates of drawback allowed to readymade
garments will also be applicable to embroidered garments and
any fluctuations due to embroidery is taken care of by drawback
caps.
In a circular to all field formations (customs
officers) on Monday, the department has also said the all-industry
rates of drawback for made-ups have been subject to caps for
various categories. Quilted made-ups or any other variants
of made-ups involving predominant use of textiles are eligible
for drawback rates available to made-ups as well.
The drawback caps are intended to take care of any fluctuations
due to quilting or other processes which are inevitable due
to the prevailing international demand.
Customs officers have also been told to clear both the current
shipments and the past claims of exporters on the above lines,
the circular said.
The decision follows efforts made by Delhi Exporters Association
president SP Agarwal, who took up the issue at a meeting of
All-India Watch Dog Committee chaired by member (customs)
and with chairman of the Central Board of Excise and Customs
KL Verma.
