Shriram plans to notch up Rs 100-cr sales this fiscal

Pune, Dec 3: Daikin Shriram Aircondtioning Pvt Ltd
is looking at a turnover of Rs 100 crore in this financial
year. The company has set itself a target of achieving critical
mass with a turnover of Rs 200 crore for setting up a dedicated
manufacturing base in the country. As of now, it is assembling
units sourced from Daikin’s global network and assembling
it at its Silvasa facility.
In the first five months of actual operations,
the company has already notched up a turnover of Rs 32.8 crore,
Mr Rajnish Ohri, general manager, marketing, Daikin Shriram
said. The company is also planning to go in for localisation
of components. “We want to achieve 40 per cent localisation
by end of December 2002 and have started identifying vendors,”
Mr Ohri said. Localisation will be in the area of sheet metal,
motor, fan coil but the scroll compressors will continue to
be imported from the Japanese company.
Daikin Shriram, the 80:20 JV between Daikin Industries of
Japan and SIEL Ltd, a Siddarth Shriram group company. To push
its ACs, the company is organsing roadshows targeting professionals
such as architects, designers, contractors and service providers
who influence the decision-making in the purchase of ACs.
The company launched its Pune branch with the roadshow in
the city on Monday.
