IIMM to hold national meet from Nov 30

Our Marketing Bureau in Chennai

The Indian Institute of Material Management, the apex body of professional material managers, will hold its national convention here on November 30 and 31. The theme of the conference will be ‘Supply management in the e-Era’.

“The two-day convention will feature five technical sessions including discussions on various case studies in the area of e-procurement, product presentations, third party service providers and emerging technologies in e-commerce,” Mr Anil P Aggarwal, convention chairman, told presspersons in a meeting.

The conference will be inaugurated by Mr N Kumar, vice-chairman, Chemplast Sanmar group, and the keynote address will be delivered by Mr S Mahalingam, executive vice-president, TCS.

“With the entry of multi-national companies into India and the liberalisation policy, Indian companies are facing the heat of intense competition in the marketplace. Discerning customers demand better products, faster and timely supplies at lower costs. Each element of the value chain aims at customer delight. Successful enterprises have already identified and embarked on supply chain management taking their vendor base as partners in their progress. Viewed in this context, the relevance and the theme of the convention is far more focussed and different from any other convention on similar or related topics,” Mr Aggarwal added.

The speakers at the event include professionals from GE, L&T, Hyundai Motors, Ernst and Young, Ramco Systems.

“From a practitioner’s point of view, the convention will yield key answers to the current and future needs of the industry on a real time application stage. By drawing on the expertise of a wide array of professionals, the convention will facilitate interaction between material management professionals from India and their counterparts across India,” Mr S Krishnaswamy, former president, Indian Institute of Materials Management, said.
