Government wants EC to change definition of whisky
  The government has responded to the European Union Council’s demand for reduction in custom duty on liquor by seeking a change in the definition of whisky by the Council which has hit exports from India.
Package for cooking gas price on cards
  The government is working out a formula to bring out a package in the next Budget to spare the middle class and the poor from a substantial hike in prices of cooking gas after dismantling of administrative price mechanism in April 1, 2002, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
   
Sebi bars 2 firms, directors from capital market
 

The Sebi has barred two South India-based companies Novel Finance (I) Ltd, formerly known as PK Vaduvammal Finance Ltd and Sunrise Oleo Chemicals Ltd and its four directors, from entering the capital market for a period of five years.
