GNFC Online aims to spread the web

Jyotsna Bhatnagar in Ahmedabad

In a market choc-a-bloc with internet service providers, the state-owned Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers Company Limited (GNFC), which floated its services barely six months ago, has made a place for itself emerging as the largest Internet bandwidth provider in Gujarat by providing Internet services through GNFC Online. The company is now planning to acquire more bandwidth in a bid to increase its existing capacity to cope with demand.

It may be mentioned that GNFC has pumped in close to Rs 8 crore in setting up its Internet infrastructure in the state. Its ISP structure is established at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Mehsana, Rajkot and Bharuch. The Internet gateway has been set up in strategic alliance with NSI Communication of the US at Bharuch.

GNFC Online provides a range of services which include Internet on dial-up, ISDN, wireless, terrestrial leased lines and also on VSAT. Internet over VSAT is the only solution for remote areas that are out of wireless range and not connected by terrestrial lines. Some multinational companies in rural areas are already accessing the Internet for their client-server networks using services provided by GNFC Online.

GNFC Online’s customer list includes leading universities. polytechnics and corporate customers. In addition, GNFC has emerged as a leading provider of VSAT and Internet services and networking solutions for a host of corporates in Gujarat.
