New Indian structure may take time: HLL

Mumbai, Nov 20: Diversey Lever India operations form part of the detergents business of Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL), which is the Indian subsidiary of Anglo-Dutch consumer products giant, Unilever.

On the effects of the transaction in India, a press release from HLL stated that the new structure for the combined business in India is expected to evolve over the next few months. Based on the partnership agreement between Unilever and Johnson Wax Professional and appropriate public announcement will be made in due course. Diversey Lever India employees 65 people and is estimated to have a turnover of 27 crore in 2001. Interestingly, HLL also has a 50:50 joint venture with SC Johnson — under Lever Johnson (Consumer Products) Ltd — which is the subsidiary of Johnson Wax. However, the company did not comment on the possibility of a possible collaboration between the two.The company had earlier announced that it would evaluate the various options for the future of this joint venture company.
