RT Outsourcing to invest $5 million in Delhi call centre

Our eFE Bureau in New Delhi

Delhi-based RT Outsourcing Services, a call centre services company, plans to invest $5 million by December 2002 for setting up a 250-seater call centre in Delhi.

The company has received its first round of venture capital funding from National Venture Fund for Software and IT (NFSIT), which is promoted by the ministry of information technology and managed by Sidbi Venture Capital Limited (SVCL).

“We are planning to invest about $5 million for setting up a contact centre targeted at serving international business. The first round of funding constitutes only a small part of the total amount of $5 million. The remaining major part will be contributed by internal resources and fresh funding,” RT Outsourcing Services managing director Shammi Moza told The Financial Express.

He, however, did not divulge the equity or the fund contributed by Sidbi.

During the first phase ending December 2001, RT Outsourcing is setting up about 100 seats that will handle only chat and email.
In the second phase ending July 2002, it will ramp up the seats to 250, all of which will handle not only web but also voice, according to Mr Moza.

The company already has two call centres — in Delhi (with 46 seats) and in Bangalore (with 36 seats). Both the centres serve domestic clientele including Compaq, HP, Toshiba, Canon, Xerox, Verifone and Epson.

“We are talking to our existing clients for roping in business at the international level for our new call centre which will target international business,” Mr Moza said.

The company is also aiming to get more business from the US through its marketing office there.
