Satyam wins software maintenance contract from Reuters, UK

Our eFE Bureau in Hyderabad

Satyam Computer Services Ltd (SCSL) has bagged a contract from Reuters of the UK amidst stiff competition from global majors for software application maintenance and support services for the client’s IS (Information Systems) applications.

In addition, the contract also allows Satyam to tap opportunities in newer technology applications from other divisions and subsidiaries of Reuters Worldwide, Satyam said here on Tuesday.

The scope of the project will include, but is not limited to, software support, maintenance and development services for the (IS) department of Reuters. It would cover support and maintenance of Reuters’ core suite of applications, development of IS applications, technologies that are related to mainframe, client server and Web-based applications, and 7x24 support across the applications.

Reuters will transfer full responsibility for the applications maintenance and support to Satyam. The projects will be executed from Reuters offices in the UK and Satyam development centers in India and Basingstoke, UK.

Satyam managing director B Rama Raju said: “We are delighted at winning this prestigious contract from Reuters against stiff global competition that included large international consulting firms. The advantage we offered to our client is our flexible outsourcing option coupled with the proven ability of our people in a global environment.” Satyam’s executive vice president and head of Europe operations, Anil Kekre said: “With our major presence in Europe we can now offer more direct, customer-centric IT services with offshore savings. This was in alignment exactly with the requirement of Reuters we will immediately be deploying 70 Satyam associates to kick start the project both in the UK and India.”
